Generation Basque, Chapter One

Hello, and welcome to the new Around the World Legacy. Or, in Basque, Biraka Eta Mundu.
In this legacy, each generation will be named a word starting with their letter from a language starting with that letter so a sim from generation B could be named Beso, the Basque word for Arm.

Last time on the Around the World Legacy, Asseblief was declared the heiress, married Reddy, and got pregnant with the next generation. As you can tell from the new title and banner, they have arrived!

Asseblief opens the new chapter by modeling her new maternity wear, and pregnant belly. She also shows us the constantly being remodeled living room.

Ever forgettable Afdeling shows off the new office. Look, corner desk!

And Asseblief shows us the new flower boxes in the painting corner. I'm not sure whether I'm happy with them or not. I was thinking of taking the mirrors off the side walls and putting in windows, looking into the bedroom and the kitchen. I'll think about it.

Reddy, meanwhile, tries to make like Leighton and skill in his undies. Err, not exactly the same, man.

Leslie invited over her boss, then ran off to skill, leaving Asseblief to meet him and befriend him. Ah, matchmaking. His name's not really important, and I don't remember it anyway. Hell, I don't remember Reddy's real name either.

Finally! Asseblief goes into labor and takes herself to the hospital, just like her mother.

And I just realized I never gave you her full stats. Asseblief is unlucky (family trait), brave, a vegetarian, family oriented, and excitable. She shares two traits with her mother. Her LTW is to reach the top of the science career, and Reddy's LTW is to reach the top of the medical career.

It's a boy! Now, some of you have made comments to this being a matriarchy. It's not. I'm playing two other legacies where the heiresses must be girls (one getting a point for it, one not). I'm playing this one that any gender can inherit, it's just that last generation there were only girls, so it had to be an heiress.

Oh, I bed you want to know what I named him. This little boy's name is Baratxuri, which is the Basque word for garlic.
Basque is the last remaining pre-Indo-European language still spoken in Europe, and is spoken in northern Spain and Southern France, specifically in Basque Country and Navarre.

"You know, it's kind of stupid to name your kid Garlic."
I wasted no time in trying for another kid. I want Asseblief to have all her kids really quickly so she can get off maternity leave and move on to her career.

I love Aap's face in this picture.
"Yay, Afdeling's moving out and Daddy's getting old!"

That's right, my friend, Leighton's old and wrinkly now. And let me tell you, it was hard to find a hair that looked half decent on his saggy face.

It was the same problem with Afdeling. She's a beautiful girl, but her face can look real ugly with some of the hair.
Afdeling added the workaholic trait and decided she wanted to go into business.

After finding a job in the newspaper, Afdeling called over her intended. She asked him if he was single... and he's married!

She settled for being good friends with him, and moved out of the house to make way for Asseblief's next baby.

Good thing, too, because Asseblief just popped!

And Leslie was promoted to executive chef! She's at level eight of her career, thank God, because it's almost her birthday.

Scratch that, it is her birthday, and Aap's too!

Aap added childish as her final trait. She joined the journalism career and promptly moved out.

So promptly that I almost didn't get a picture of her for her portrait! Oops!

But don't worry, all four girls got their portraits painted. And nicely, too.

And don't think I've forgotten Leslie. Her blue eyes stand out even more with that white hair.

That night, Asseblief went into labor!

Find out next time whether it's a boy or girl, one baby or multiples, and what strange thing will I name this one after? Find out next time, on the Around The World Alphabet Legacy!

Generation Afrikaans, Chapter Six

Hello, and welcome to the new Around the World Legacy. Or, in Afrikaans, Rondom Die Wêreld.
In this legacy, each generation will be named a word starting with their letter from a language starting with that letter so a sim from generation A could be named Antwoord, the Afrikaans word for Answer.

Last time on the Around the World Legacy, Leighton reached his lifetime want, and Asseblief became a young adult. I was trying to decide on the heiress.

Let's start off with some fishing. Who doesn't like fishing? Also, this pond? On the legacy lot. It solves the teenage angler problem. Poor Aap kept getting in trouble with the curfew police!

I've changed my mind about generation B. It's already a big family without having the planned eight babies (yes, eight). So Asseblief's LTW is no problem to me.
Also, I have a husband in mind for her.

His name is something like Fred, but I've taken to calling him Reddy. He has red eyes! He's the decedent I of some sims I dropped into the town to populate it when Leslie first moved in. I think. Anyway, Reddy here is the second gen. spouse. And Asseblief is the heiress, of course.

While the two love birds flirt outside, the other girls demonstrate the inefficiency of the kitchen table.

That's why I built them a brand new dinning room, right off the living room. But do they use it? Noooo!

Anyway, Asseblief and Reddy are getting really close, and I had her ask him to go steady.

Then I was distracted by Leslie getting electrocuted by a bear burnt at work.

And then it was time for little miss Advertensie to grow up!

And, while I think she's pretty, I'm glad I picked Asseblief. First of all, this is not a prettacy or an uglacy, but rather... a unique-acy. I don't want my kids looking like clones of each other. And Advertensie does look different. I just think it'd be hard for her to marry someone equally unique and have kids that don't look like they belong in, well, an uglacy.

Besides, she's found love, in the form of something-or-other McGraw. I had her ask him to be her boyfriend, and he of course said yes! The next day she moved out to live with him!

This is the man whose death distracted me from Asseblief's first kiss! Damn him!

But it's okay, because Asseblief was happy to re-enact it for me.

Then she took him home, and outside, away from her family, and asked him to marry her. He gave an enthusiastic yes!

And then the two went into the orange bedroom to make blue and purple eyed babies.
Do you see the unique-acy potential? DO YOU SEE IT?

Anyway, the next morning, little miss Asseblief, who always seems to be looking boring in my pictures, got ready for her wedding day. They were having a small party, with some of her parent's friends, Reddy's roommates, and Advertensie and her boyfriend.

The two of them share their vows on the lawn at sunset...
Wait a second, where the HELL did his hair go?

Ahem. In any case, these pictures would be perfect if his hair hadn't vanished.

I gave him a make-over after the wedding. His favorite color is yellow! Exciting, I've never had a yellow-lover before. Stupid sims keep getting purple or white.

And I'll leave you with this picture of Asseblief, rubbing her imaginary pregnant stomach.
That's right, generation B is on the way!

Generation Afrikaans, Chapter Five

Hello, and welcome to the new Around the World Legacy. Or, in Afrikaans, Rondom Die Wêreld.
In this legacy, each generation will be named a word starting with their letter from a language starting with that letter so a sim from generation A could be named Antwoord, the Afrikaans word for Answer.

Last time on the Around the World Legacy, not a whole lot happened. Aap became a child and Afdeling became a teen.

Ah, it would appear it's time for Aap to become a teen now too. And now, the moment of truth. Will Leighton fulfill his lifetime want, or will another baby be hastily made?

Wait, it appears we've missed a few photos! Advertensie's been hard at work playing chess.

She's been winning chess match...

...after chess match...

...after chess match...

...after- wait, didn't we already play you?
"I came back."
Err, okay. After repetitive chess match.

Leighton has been gardening in his underwear, working on growing some fresh ingredients for Leslie, who is still cooking up a storm.

This is the fifth key lime pie she's baked today. Why? I like pie.
Also, she's trying to make 75 dishes. I believe so far she's made 66.

This doesn't have anything to do with this update, I just took a random picture of the mail man and I liked it.

So, do you want to know if Leighton's LTW was filled?
Really?
Are you sure? I have other pictures of mail men!

Right, so, as I was saying, it's Aap's birthday.

A little pop up announced that Leighton's lifetime wish had been completed. He slept through it.

And Aap's a teen. I made her hair a little more reddish brown, just because I like the red better and I can do that.

Now I've got to decide who to make heir? I like Asseblief. She looks very much like her mother, though she has an odd hooked nose I don't like, and her eyes are big and pretty.

I really like Advertensie's look, I've never had a girl with her appearance before, though I think I'd have to be careful who I mixed that look with.

I like that Afdeling got her mother's big eyes, because I love those eyes, but she got that mysterious brown hair. Maybe I'll dye it if she is chosen.

And finally there's Aap, who's pretty average to me, although she has the advantage of being much younger than her siblings.

Asseblief's birthday is the day after Aap's, so you'd think I'd have to decide right now, right? But you're wrong! Asseblief is going to have to hang around to paint portraits anyway, so there's no rush.

Oo look at those purple eyes. I like her for heiress, though I'm not sure about her lifetime want. She wants to reach the top of the science career, which would be fun because then you can experiment on things in the house, but I also plan to have a big family next generation (like you didn't see that coming).

Edit: Oh, totally forgot, I changed my mind about making brave the family trait. Asseblief is now also unlucky, which will be the real family trait. So all the girls will be unlucky for their next birthday, except Aap, who got it earlier.

In any case, a spouse is needed, and spare spouses for the other girls, so it's man hunting we go!

Unfortunately, the men of Sunset Valley are, er, special, in their own special little way.

Next time, I announce the heiress! Or, uh, not.
